LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Alltel today announced that it has completed the sale of four rural southern Minnesota markets to Rural Cellular Corp. in order to comply with divestiture requirements related to Alltel's October 2006 purchase of Midwest Wireless.
The divested properties include licenses, retail stores, employees, customers and network assets. A trustee appointed by the U.S. Department of Justice has managed the properties since October.
The Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission have approved the sale to Rural Cellular.
Alltel is owner and operator of the nation's largest wireless network and has nearly 12 million wireless customers.
